You have my sympathy duncansmum, I hate hoovering the stairs too. We have two flights, very steep with narrow treads, and it's hard to do without the hoover taking a tumble.

My husband did the hoovering this morning - hoorah! - and now he's gone shopping. Budgetting has provided an outlet for his competitive side, he's determined to prove he can get a week's shopping more cheaply than I did.

Ooohhh I am so jealous. I do not allow my OH to do the shopping. He just see's the "silver tesco's finest packets" spends a fortune, and we end up with nothing decent to eat after two days.

I avoid even leaving the house on Saturdays, the hustle of the Saturday shopping doesn't interest me one bit. Have only gone out to hang washing and take the dog out today, have spent most of the day cleaning the kitchen (with my 5 year olds help DP doesn't do housework) more to do but my hands are hurting as been scrubbing and they have gone all wrinkly and dry :(

Haven't had the chance to be bored, just can't be bothered, got a film to watch with the boys tonight which I am going to put on soon, then hopefully get oldest to sleep before midnight (unlike 1-2am like the week so far) so I can get the living room done.
One day I might be more organised...........

I know this is probably no tthe right forum but for christmas "air freshning" I went to our local ethnic shop and bought a huge bag of cinnamon sticks(they are more like pieces really) cost me 97p ha sgone up this year to £1.29 put some on a baking tray in the oven on a very low light and the house smells fantastic. A bag lasts throughout a full winter. I change yhe cinnamon in the oven about once every three weeks.

What a fabulous idea. I just love the smell of cinnamon. I'm definitely going to look into that one. Thanks.

Well we live in sunny old M/C and such shops are pretty common. If you have problems finding a shop(avoid supermarkets they charge a FORTUNE) PM me. If you wanted I could always shove some in a bag & send it to you.

  • Oh how lovely! Am liking the sound of the cinamon sticks too.

I've spent the afternoon watching a DVD and booing my eyes out! Am off down the pub with mates in a wee while for the finals of some dodgy pop-idol/ karaoke competition in a grotty dive!. I am driving so relatively cheap night out and I think we are going for a curry at a cheapie place next to the pub too.

Had a major grotty week and am gonna let my hair down this evening. Treat myself to a lemonade or maybe even a... pineapple juice... wooooooo! I certainly live the high life.

I'm certainly not interested in Saturday shopping leading up to Christmas... no way!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I think DP dislikes the smell of cinnamon but I will ask him, I like the smell of it, but I would only put them in oven as it was cooling after cooking, rather than costing me to heat it. I find the rubbing fabric conditioner on radiators works well as an air freshner :)

We don't have central hating so not an option for me I'm afraid. But the oven is only on on the very lowest setting so hardly uses any gas and the aroma premated through the whole house.
