I was looking at internships, but i couldnt find anything related to tourism. Do you think sending out speculative stuff is a good option? Id be up for doing something like that as a way in, and network my socks off! Unpaid would be soo hard, but i'd hope the parents would support me a bit, and i have savings that would probably last me 5 mins. No new clothes....would be difficult

Evening all - I stayed the same weight this week despite not having any cakes I turned down doughnuts, sweeties, chocolates, a sarnie, and some chocolate cake :mad: :mad:

Mr 3Dogs gained a half pound, he did have cakes

I am a happy bunny. Pops has left and i am calm again!!! all is good and i am smiling.

The best way in is usually through connections who work for the same company. Speculative letters can be good you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Dont you have a tourism journal with nice graduate jobs in it?

Yea all good. Highlight of my day was putting a tablet in my mouth that shows up tha plaque, and buying a broom head with my mother. Its all rock and roll in my life!!

Oh vix you are a little flower and i love you. You have so much fun ahead of you, you do make me laugh. I am sending you a big hug. It'll work out keep trying ok. I would love to work with someone as funny as you. When i do funny stuff everyone looks at me as though i need to be locked up!

I've never seen a good tourism graduate job ever. Its normally more hospitality, like hotels and stuff. The area i don't want to go into unless its sourcing hotels or rating them stars. I'm doomed!! The only thing thats keeping me going is that i feel in my gut that i will make it. I'm just too mediocre to get anything good

Well, trouble is you can't get that from my CV and covering letter how amazingly wonderful i am

Maybe i should make a facebook collage however you spell it, of myself as the 3rd page of my CV!! Not many people at 24 would be seen out in a club with the worlds worst medical shoe and crutches, a brace, drunk and dressed as a zebra.

Believe it or not its your personality that counts and get's you noticed. Remember that and dont give up. can your university careers dept forward you details of jobs in your field? Have you bombarded the local airports, travel companies?, fancied writing a few travel articles for your local paper? it'll give you confidence and get your name out there? Are there any local small firms that specialise in independent travel that could be a good way in.
