Are any car insurers guaranteeing to beat your renewal premiums?

Options
I know that quite often car insurers offer to beat renewal premiums if you have say 4+ years no claims. Is anyone doing it at the moment? It must be for a renewal mid December.

Privilege are withdrawing their offer just before it's up for renewal unfortunately.

Thanks everyone!!

I'm not 100% sure but I think Churchill are now guaranteeing to beat your renewal. I asked Priviledge for a quote last year and after asking for my renewal quote they beat it by £1......a whole pound!!! ;) Not worth changing insurers IMO just for a quid.

If you fone a few co's you will no doubt beat your renewal anyway by a few £££'s and not just 1.

Challenge churchill!.. I was with them when my renewal came up and they beat their own renewal quote as well as the cheapest outside quote!

I wouldnt be surprised if the privilege one was just extended again.... it has been for the last 2.5 years since they relaunched the brand

The best way that Iv'e found to beat your renewal premium is to call as many co's as your patience allows. When each co asks what your best price is, shave a few £££'s off it. They will either beat it or not. Then when you have a figure you are happy to pay......or your patience has run out and you can't fone any more co's :D go back to your current insurers and tell them you have found a better quote. Likewise they will either beat it or not.
We save £££'s each year doing this for 2 cars and a bike. We have never paid the renewal figure and have never paid more 1 year than the previous year. Even this year with me making a claim on one policy, I got both cars renewed for less than last year.

    Good Luck

Thanks for the tips. I hate to admit it but I don't phone around - I do it all on the net (proving that laziness costs money!)

Mine is due in Mid December. Today I received my written quote from Direct Line (current Insurer). I wanted to see if they would better the quote over the phone and they said no, so I told them I will look around and cancel this next premium. I then went on line to Direct Line and got a like for like quote for £34 less, still not happy I have just completed an on line like for like quote with Virgin and shaved another £10 off + I can also pay monthly installments without any interest added :T Guess which one I am going for:beer: ;)

At least you get more than one quote so its a start :D
My Dad just pays his renewal and has done so for years now. He doesn't fone around and never questions the renewal premium. Lord knows how much money he could have saved over the years.

I have used online search engines before but for me they seem to add things I don't want and I can't get rid of them then don't give the option to add stuff I do want. I personally think you can't beat foning around and talking to someone. But each to their own and whatever works best for me doesn't work for everyone.

The best I could find was Barclays bank and now both my cars + my house & contents are with them.

You need to phone them up to get a quote for exactly the same insurance parameters as your renewal. If they can't beat your quote, they will lower by up to £100 to try and match and then post you out a cheque for a further £50 when you take up their insurance. All you need to do is send off a copy of you current insurers renewal to get the cheque - takes about 4 weeks.

Their basic insurance price over the phone is not cheap and is 10% more than an online quote but in my case I saved £50 on my house and contents and about £40 each on the car policies. Obviously I will move to a new insurer next year and apply online through quidco :-)

    thank you all!

I didn't even know that Virgin did car insurance :embarasse

With a Group 15 car, I'm still getting huge variances in premium (even now I'm 26). I like to shop around, but phone calls are the next stage I think...
