So, to you it's not clear that the Dir Nav button takes you to the menu for whichever drive is in use?
If you press it when HDD is enabled, it shows you what's on the HDD.
If a DVD-R or DVD-RAM is in the drive, and the drive is selected, it shows you what's on the disc.
If a commercial DVD is in the drive, it shows the main menu of the DVD.
Tell me what the difficulty is, please.0 -
At the risk of stating the obvious, I can't help but get the clear impression that many peoples technofear or technical ignorance, call it what you want, is simply more to do with them having no interest in the subject and therefore no patience to try to understand.
It's the same as the often quoted maxim that you don't need to be a mechanic to be able to drive a car. However, if you have learned to drive a car it proves that you are at least capable of following instructions, whether you want to or not.
There again, our economy actually depends on most people lacking a broad range of interest in things technical otherwise there'd be no service industries for cars, computers, consumer electronics, white goods etc etc
As someone who works within the computer repair industry I say, long may that ignorance last.0 -
What does bother me is that coming from a scientific/engineering background is the way it is now socially acceptable to be proud of your ignorance of science\maths\technical skills.
For example "I can't program the PVR - I always leave that to the kids"
Whenever I hear something like that I always think "that's because you are too stupid to learn"
I appreciate Knarf44's position but it's a sad comment on modern society.
OK rant over, nothing more to see, move along.

My response, was to being told to just 'press the menu button' by penrhyn.
I'm quite capable of operating the equipment to access all it's features.....
Should be, I'm a retired electronics engineer with experience of PLC's and digital circuitry.0
