Worcester 24i combi problem

I'm looking for a spacific forum for boilers etc. i have a intermittent problem with my 24i and the engineer has replaced 2 parts but the problem is still there. i already started a thread the other week regarding this. What I am looking for is a spacific forum on the net for help, I went over to a DIY forum but they sadithey do not offer advice on gas appliances. TBH I thought that was pretty lame.

I rang worcester but they will only help if the applaince was bought from them and fitted by them so they will not help futher as we did not, it was in our home when we moved here.

Can anyone assist with a forum on the net dedicated to combi's or heating applliances where I might get some help with my problem. if you require to see my thread just search my threads.

Cheers.

ok. We have a worcester 24i, proberly 8 years old. When we want to use central heating we flick a switch that is located on a 'clock dial' to the on option (other options off and timer) when we flick the switch we hear a noise that is the fan coming on. Then about 5 to 10 seconds later the 'whoosh' noise of the gas igniting. then after several minutes heat comes through the radiators.

Now, we do not have thermostates on walls so i imagine the heating is regulated by the combi, there is a heating dial on the combi to the left hand side that is not quite to full.

Now i imagine once the heat has come to temperature the gas is ceased until required again then the whoosh noise of ignition.

We have noticed now usually 2 times a week that the radiators become cold, the fan is still running on the combi but the gas has not ignited again to heat the radiators. Also at this point the hot water tap will not become hot either, it just runs cold water. So we have to switch the combi off by means of the dial, not at the mains or anything. After 5 minutes the fan then goes off. Then we flick the switch located on the clock dial back to on. Again the fan begins anf after 5 to 10 seconds the gas ingintes and we have hot water through the radiators and the hot tap.

We have had an engineer out, he has replaced a plastic thing on the first visit, i cannot remember what this was called. he went away saying it was proberly fixed. It was ok for 2 days then the prob restarted so he came back and replaced a PCB (a curcuit board???) and said that it should be ok now.

After 3 days when we thought it must have cured it the heating went off again last night. so back to square one.

nothing else seems to be worng, there is no flashing lights or low pressre. But we are going to have to call out the engineer again Monday.

TBH we cannot afford a new boiler, but there are still parts available for this so we have to try to get the problem fixed.

Are you sure it is the fan still running when it goes off and not the pump?

Have you any idea what the boiler was doing before it cut out? ie heating or hot water?

Has the water flow from your hot taps deteriorated recently?

This is an awkward one to find as it is so intermittent.

Could the plastic thing he replaced be the flow switch?
