Delivery seems to be not as stated.

I bought something (BIN) on the 14th. Auction page stated delivery estimate would be witin 6-8 working days.
On my Ebay account and also on the dispatch email and Paypal page, it all states
'Despatch Method:RM First Class Recorded (Signed For)™ (Next working day)'
I got an email on the 22nd from PayPal saying 'your item will be with you soon, *insert seller's name* sent your parcel using Royal Mail'.
It then states the bit in bold above.
So question is...this is the 26th and it's not here yet which doesn't fit in with the next working day bit. If it was sent via that method then surely it would have arrived by now? (Nor does it fit in with the 'estimated 6-8 working days' bit.)
Do I continue to wait or begin to consider there's something up?
Edit: Just checked again, seller is now apparently away until the end of May so I can't even get in touch to query the delivery.

I would contact the seller if I were you. Tell them you see they have dispatched your item but it hasn't arrived yet.
Seven days to send is not great, but let them know at least that you are still waiting.
Recorded is not expedited, nor does it insure as much as Special Delivery. It could have gone missing or be taking its time. "Next working day" is not guaranteed in this case, it's just a delivery estimate and Paypal does not have the final say on when your item will be delivered. Check your sorting office to see whether they are holding the item - they might have tried to deliver it but not left a card."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

There's always someone at home (mostly me) and I've had to wait in for other deliveries this week anyway so I know delivery hasn't been attempted.
I'll email the seller in the hope he/she will reply even although they are not selling on ebay again for the next few months.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Even though they are away send them an email and if no response open a dispute as other wise by the time they're back you will be out of time and will be unable to get a refund0 -
OK 14th...
8 working days means they had until the 24th. If it is being sent RM Standard Parcels, it could arrive as late as Monday. It could also be that an attempt to make a delivery has occurred but the postie not left a card.

I do understand that. I don't understand why you needed to use capitals and bold font, mind you.
I wouldn't have had any thoughts about possible delivery issues before I got the email detailed in my OP. That's what made me wonder if there was a problem.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Well item never turned up today either and I held off emailing to give it a chance to arrive after the weekend. First Class Recorded should surely have arrived by now if it was posted on the 22nd?
Edit: I've just sent the seller a message via Ebay and got a standard 'the seller is away until May' response. He (or she) has stated they got payment on the 23rd of February, which is strange since they supposedly dispatched the item on the 22nd. Even stranger that I paid immediately on the 14th via PayPal (it was a Buy It Now purchase).
Got a bad feeling about this.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I think I would give it a couple more days and then open a claim if it has not arrived. It is already 14 days since you paid and the seller is apparently not contactable.0

Seller replied, apologising for the delay and confirming they dispatched on the 22nd. They also supplied the Recorded Delivery tracking number and asked me to check with my local sorting office in case it was there.
Local sorting office can find no details for this number but did say there could be several reasons for that. They also said the item should have been delivered by now if it was sent as stated.
Obviously there is a problem somewhere. Problem is, is it with the seller or the PO? I really don't want to jump the gun and am trying to be fair to seller but I still have this nagging feeling that wont go away.
Am I right in assuming that even if the seller does turn out to be dodgy, then I can still get my money back with no question by filing an 'item not received' claim?Herman - MP for all!0
