New Boiler/Heating Being Installed by Council

i currently have the old heating and big boiler tanks in one of the bedrooms and the heating is turned on and off by that switch with blue and red colours with the manual timer on them.

Got letter from luton borough council they will be replacing/upgrading the heating.

i got friends with the new boilers and heating where you just turn on the switch and hot water starts coming out straight away rather than the system i have where it takes at least 1 hour for water to get warm let alone hot.

anyone know if the council will install the same one as them?

Sorry, but every council has different policies of what they fit in different housing stock.

I can only suggest a call to them to see if they can tell you.

What you are referring to is a combi system, where there is no stored hot water and it is heated on demand. As advised, you'll need to check with your LA or HA as to what system they are proposing to install.

You seem to think you have a choice.
For two bathrooms and kitchen, I would stick with the cylinder.
For one bath, a combi is fine if you have good water pressure, i.e. at least 2 bar, preferrably 3.

Watch out for where they put the condensate pipe.
When it's not so cold, it doesn't freeze.
When it gets really cold, and you can't live without heating,
it freezes on the outside, backs the water into the boiler,
kills it, and kills you by freezing so they can rent the council house to somebody else.
