Hi
While I was on the phone to my DD earlier my DGD managed to find a sharpie pen and draw over their table does anyone have any tips for removing it?
Thanks in advance x
ps DD is very annoyed as she knows SHE wasn't the one who left the sharpie around....(she did not even know where it came from) am not holding my breath as to what she will say to her OH when he gets in :rotfl:

Try a baby wipe and if that doesn't work try a tiny bit of something a bit oily to 'float' out the ink. WD40 or even something like olive oil.
If you are in DD's house and you didn't bring said pen into the house and shove it into said DGD's hand, I fail to see how you could be viewed as culpable and maybe you should suggest completely unreasonably annoyed DD reflects upon this and whether she wants your help with DGD in future, particular prior to reporting incident to OH?0 -

What's the damage - is it pen marks (probably removable) or scores into the fabric of the table (harder to remove - sorry
)? :rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

I think the OP means that the DDs husband must have left the sharpie pen lying around

Hi Pen Pen
Its just marks on the table, it hasn't scored into it. DD was thinking nail varnish remover but was a bit worried as it is not proper wood only mdf with a covering that it might take the covering off, she says if all else fails she will turn the bad leaf to the back and use a nice tablecloth when they have guests

Hairspray, this worked when my son allowed someone to write on his forehead with permanent marker, test the underside of the table first to make sure it doesn't lift the veneer0

That's probably salvagable then, so good news :T
Try hairspray, or oil (cooking, baby, cheapest you have) first. The ink will probably be oil-soluble, so they should remove it. You could also try a damp cloth and elbow grease.
If they don;t work, then move onto the big guns

Is acetone free nail varnish remover any safer than the kind with acetone? I use acetone free nail varnish remover on a lot of things, including getting rid of sticky labels from plastic boxes, and i've never had a problem with it.0
