How much would you be earning? You may get a small amount of LHA still, but it really depends on how much you earn.Gone ... or have I?0

You are likely to still get some help with LHA. Also, you can still sign on for JSA for your NI Credits, but you will not receive any payment. Have a look at www.entitledto.co.uk to see how much you may receive.
Good luck.Gone ... or have I?0 -
A 15 hour a week job might not pay you as much as you need to live on, especially when the NMW penalises you for being so young, but it is definitely worth looking at all job vacancies when you are job-searching, full-time and part-time. You will occasionally see a part-time vacancy with high hours, which is paying more than a full-time vacancy in the same field. I didn't click on to that fact until I was about 10 months in to a year long period of unemployment, and am now working in a lovely 24 hour a week job with a great employer, which I would not swap for the world.
Good luck!0 -
whats ni credits, and do you have to sign on for them. I thought you could get some help?0

NI Credits go towards your pension. If I was still your age I wouldn't worry too much about them, you've got plenty of time before you need them!
Your earnings will be more than your JSA, so you will not receive any financial help. LHA is the only thing I can think of.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Taking a 15 hour a week job, even for a short while would at least give you some experience, and improve your future employment prospects, even if it doesn't look like a good longterm choice.
It's hard enough for people with lots of experience to find jobs at the moment, but it must be a total nightmare for school and college leavers. You probably just need to get yourself on a lowish rung of the ladder at the moment. At least it will be a start.0 -
You should sign on for NI credits anyway, apart from your pension it has effects on any benefits that you may want to claim in 2/3 years time.
If you suddenly need to claim benefits they will look back and see if you have paid enough NI credits in the relevant years (2 full years before your claim) you will be refused any benefits so its important not to miss any NI credits.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
