I'm pretty sure it stands for overdraft not protected.
Do you have one with them? If so I reckon thats what it is:)

    Hi

Thanks for that, It states my overdraft is £10. lol I never asked for an overdraft but when I upgraded my account it appeared!

    Thanks again
  • It's a £10 buffer. It's something you can use for if you needed to. I had one when I first opened my account with barclays before increasing my overdraft. You don't get charged for using it!

  • definitely stands for overdraft - no payment protection

w/p is with protection - for which you pay 80p per £100 limit regardless of if you use the limit or not

    probably their £10 buffer-free overdraft

True, but then any payment protection claim is paid at the rate of 10% of your overdraft limit per month that your claim lasts irrespective of whether you were using it at the time you needed to start claiming.

In that respect, because your overdraft limit is used as just a kind of rateable sum insured your overdraft payment protection insurance with Barclays can be used as a sort of 12 month partial income protection product.

E.g. If I had a £5,000 OD W/P then if a PPI claim was deemed eligible for any claim payment to be made then it would be paid at the rate £500 per month irrespective of whether I was using the overdraft fully , partially or not at all.

(Not a lot of people know that :p)

But, not wishing to deflect the OP on understanding her OD, I confirm that N/P means hers is NOT protected.
