I'm trying to convert my husbands collection of VHS tapes to DVD but not having much success.
My DiL loaned me a piece of kit called DAZZLE. I've loaded the programme on my PC - all OK.
I've connected my old VHS player (red & white plugs - output to input on the Dazzle 'thingy) I didn't have a set of yellow plugs but DH thought I could use any plug with the correct fitting - doesn't seem to work! Is he right & its something else or are the yellow plugs a specific type?
If anyone understands what I mean & can help I'd appreciate it:j

Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

No the yellow plugs are just coloured yellow. But you must have the correct plugs correct to the correct input/output
You should be taking the video and audio out from the VHS into the PC through the Dazzle interface.
Does it have red, white and yellow to USB?0 -
You already have the VHS player - you want them on DVD, not on the PC - so why not just cut to the chase and buy a standalone DVD recorder ?
Connect VHS to DVD recorder, press Play on the former, Record on the latter, and come back 1 or 2 hours later to a finished DVD.....0 -

Presumably because the OP has the MSE way to do it with borrowed kit?0 -
Really will that work, it seems too easy.:)0

Sometimes the easy way is the best.
Unless you want to fiddle about with the recordings of course0 -
Hi Lucylucky
Thanks for your response! I have the red & white plugs on the output of the VHS player plugged into the Dazzle kit (only one place they can go) I had another set of plugs (black & red) & I used the black ones connected to the yellow plugs on Dazzle & VHS - I've just checked & realised that the yellow plug on my VHS is input - if it should be output I'm stuck!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

If you mean my method - yes, it is that easy.
I wouldn't go anywhere near a PC for transferring VHS or DVD to other DVDs. For one thing, you need acres of hard drive space for quality video, and for another it's a multi-stage process - copy VHS to PC, burn to DVD, delete video from hard drive, start again. I'd much rather go from VHS to DVD in one go, or use a standalone Hard Drive recorder if I wanted an editing stage - I favour the Panasonics; this one is an absolute peach of a machine -

You need the video output, not input I am afraid.
If there are no RCA plug o/ps (which is what he red/black ones are) then you could use a SCART to RCA converter

Thanks Googler - as my DiL had the kit I thought I'd give it a try - the Dazzle is supposed to go direct to DVD & not onto the hard drive. I dont want to edit anything - just copy & when they're all done I probably wont copy anything else. I'm just frustrated that what seems to be a straightforward connect isnt workingSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
