Do these places that charge < £20 for a puncture take the tyre off and inspect or do they just use one of the reamers and those gluey plugs?
I have the car booked into the local Peugeot dealer for a service and was hoping they would do it for a reasonable price but they said it was "About £25" which is a rip compared to the price of a new tyre.
the plugs are temporary, to do the job properly the tyre must be taken of, inner suface roughed up to all glue to bond properly and patch applied.0 -
For this type of bread and butter stuff you really have to find your local, under the arches type of tyre dealer who will do the same puncture repair, if not better, for a tenner or less. Ask the next taxi driver you meet where he gets this stuff done, it's not rocket science.0

with the voucher at national I got the puncture repaired properly, new valve fitted and wheel balanced for just £10 well worth it.
Without voucher it would have been £18.
I only have one experience with indies and it wasn't good. Some back alley tyre place I took my car to. Didn't even balance the wheel or ask about the stem.

Hi does any one know where / how much a tyre will cost for a Vespa scooter size 100-80-10-53j I live in dunfermline scotland I have no idea ! what it should cost it's a tiny little tyre so thought it should be cheap ish thank you Linda x0 -
Can't beat that then. They've kept it quiet though.
So all VW dealers, free balancing, new valve, puncture repair on any wheel, any car, just turn up off the street?
My daughters car has a very slow leak, I'll get it round on Monday. Wasn't worth paying a tenner at ATS, it only loses a couple of pounds a month.
Nice, although I would expect them to try and upsell you servicing and other stuff.
Sometimes I'd rather just pay the tenner to the type place than endure the upsells.
I buy my service parts from the parts shop at a VW dealer, sometimes they treat me like they don't have the time of day for me. I guess they want to make the big bucks and sell cars and finance.0 -
http://tirerepairkit.com/whichkit.htm ... MINI TIRE REPAIR KIT (Part No. 11007)
That's what I have (and use). My current car (VW Golf) which I got a year ago ... I had it two weeks and I got a puncture in the front offside tyre. I just repaired it myself and that tyre is still going strong.
I've also used it to repair other people's tyres when they've been stranded, and also motorcycle tyres.0 -

dont, professional tyre repair is cheap, and they use super strong adhesive that probably isn't even legally available to consumers. Do it professionaly for peace of mind, dont diy
I've seen a tyre place repair tyres, they rough out the inside, and put a patch on with an extremely strong smelling glue which is held down hard with g clamps for 5 minutes. No home kit will be able to achieve the same results.0 -
