If booked solely as a Jet2.com flight, then usually name changes are indeed not allowed, however if it had been booked as a Jet2holidays.com, then you would have had a bit more flexibility.

On the other side, do the people who need to cancel have travel insurance, and are they cancelling for an insurable reason?

Thanks for all you're help. Spoke to jet2 and they will allow us to change and will only charge for the name change, no extra costs. So, im not quite sure what this travel agent was talking about!

    Thanks again

THomson shops have just started to sell Jet2holidays.com, and i presume jet2.com flights as well, and is slightly different from what staff normally sell in the normal cause of their work, so they may just be getting used to things.

Glad you managed to get things sorted, however it may be worth speaking to the manager of the shop, even if only to give your feedback and offer some advice. after all, even i don't pretend to know everything about everything, and always welcome peoples feedback & comments (in fact, in our office we encourage it with a letter to the clients once they have returned, welcoming them home and asking for any feedback).

    Have a great holiday.

Hi having the same problem here. Due to travel to Spain next week, 2 of the lads (brothers) that were coming have had to pull out due to a death in their family. The original cost of the holiday was 386, all inclusive. We booked with lowcostpackages.co.uk and they want £320 to change the names on the tickets??

    Hi bigbase,

unfortunately, that sounds about right with lowcostholidays.com. They will have built you a holiday using low cost flights & then accommodation. The £320.00 will basically be just a new ticket for the new people, as the old tickets will be none changeable.

If the 2 brothers who are not going have travel insurance, they may be covered for the loss of their holiday, however if 2 new people want to go, they will have to pay the current price of the new flights, which usually get more expensive as you get closer.

If they have travel insurance, they will have to cancel their parts of the holiday to claim on their insurance as they need a cancellation letter. Unfortunately not being able to change the names for the flights except for a very large fee, is a problem with low cost flights. If they have no insurance then they've lost all their money anyway so if 2 other people want to go then they're getting a reasonable priced holiday at £320.
