Holiday Cancellation/Name Change Rights...

Options
Hi

I need a some information on travelling rights. I've booked a holiday with friends to go away in June. However, two people have dropped out. We enquired with our travel agents as to how much it will cost to change names of the two people and book two other friends on. They told us that although a name change was possible at a price of £15 per person, the flight company would not allow it and we would have to pay the original flight off, costing another £100 before cancelling it, and losing out on the two flights. We would then have to pay for a name change to add the two other friends on, and they would have to pay the current cost of the flight, including a name change and the cost of the hotel.

I am just looking for some information into our rights with what would we could do to resolve this issue.

If anyone could help that would be great, and i'd like to thank in advance...

    I am a Travel Agent

My company’s ABTA numbers are P6046. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.

We have only paid deposits at the moment, but the travel agent has stated to us that even though the two people have dropped out, we still owe £100 each for the flights... Once we have paid, she said she can cancel the flight and they will more than likely sell the tickets on again. Any advice?

    Thanks

    Metamec,

what i mean is which Tour Operator have thomson used, or have they built the holiday up for you? I presume when you say you have booked through Thomson, you mean Thomson as the travel agent.

ask to see the terms & conditions that you agreed to, however some i have seen do state that you can be charged extra if flight cancellation costs exceed.

However it is strange because when most agents make a booking with a low cost airline, the full cost of the flight is usually calculated as part of the deposit.

I would speak with thomson again, and possibly speak with the shop manager this time.

Thanks. The travel agent did in fact state that low cost airline like jet2 do infact not allow name changes on their flights. Is this correct? We did infact speak to the assistant manager... If there isnt anything in the t and c would you suggest anything else?
