Is it my computer or does everyone have this:

When entering Helion reports the typing takes ages and ages to catch up on screen. This is really annoying as I am an 80wpm typist and like to see my typing appear on screen as I go. Unfortunately it disuades me from typing in long comments as the catch up time is really annoying and then if you've made a typo, which doesn't show up for a minute later, you have to go back and change it, which takes forever all over again.

I've never come across this with entering reports for any other company, only Helion. Am I alone in this or do others have the same problem?

Max, if it's not me, can it be fixed?
Yes I had that problem and I'm not even that fast a typist. Even if I entered every letter slowly and deliberately it still missed letters out and took ages to appear on the screen. Then the spellchecker didn't work so I couldn't tell where it had missed out the letters.

Last time I did reports for Helion they were a complete nightmare and it's really put me off applying for any more. They took about 3 hours in the end, as it kept losing everything when I pressed save. I emailed about it at the time and they said it was a known problem, but I still got a poor score for spelling and grammar :(

I have had the typing speed problem on RE as well, but only when using my netbook (which is quite slow anyway). However for the Helion ones I was using my desktop (which is normally quite fast).

    What browser do you use?

It does that to me in Internet Explorer but works fine in Chrome.

I'm a fast touch typist too and it confuses me when the words don't appear on screen as fast as my hands are working!

Thanks. Installing Chrome right now! :)

I have never laughed as much in a long time.

I have just been out to do a DIY visit for PIP. I normally visit this store for TNS but haven't done so for a good 5 or 6 months.

Walking across the car park there was an MOS watering the plants on display at the entrance who saw me and turned of his hose and ran inside. He then returned with 2 other MOS who looked at me, nodded and went back indoors leaving the original MOS to keep watering his plants.

On reaching the entrance the MOS turned of the hose and launched into a near 10 minute conversation with me about plants..... When I eventually managed to detach myself I was greeted by the Store Manager as I entered and was then followed round the store and the moment I stopped to look at something I was approached and asked if I needed help!

The same thing happened for the 2nd scenario and I got the farewell committee at the exit on the way out.

Do you think I might have been rumbled?

Nope! they are always that attentive :)

I have this as well and found copy pasting from word to work best. Also completed the last survey on my mobile as I locked t laptop in t car and on t mobile I didn't have this problem at all, in fact it was superfast :D

Thanks. I wish I'd known at the time as I do use Chrome for some things.

It seems odd that there are so many problems with the most widely used web browser. I wonder what they used when testing it? Maybe it depends on what version of Internet Explorer we're using?
  • Without doubt Google Chrome is the best browser out there, Layout is super, I have all website icons in my bookmarks bar, so simple. I only need IE with PiP
I sometimes experience the catch up typing problem for example on RA and RE but for what reason I don't know, possibly because I had other programs running at once and a netbook doesn't really have that quick of a processor.

Do any of you use a netbook or suchlike to write up assignments on the go? When I'm doing a full day of MS, that can mean a total of several hours on public transport, so using that time effectively would be great...
Goal = £9,000 in 2011, starting in March
    Current total - £779 banked by 09/04/11
Also growing, scrimping and crafting to not need as much in the first place!

I often use my netbook for doing reports while out and about.

One tip though, don't try and take the photo of your receipt while on a moving bus/train :D
