He done the training on the gapbusters web site. Do you only have one chance to get 100% on the assignments, and no second attempts. :{0

Please take the client names out of your post! I believe you get 3(?) goes at the test, but once that's done it's all over.0

Hello all, just stumbled across this thread as I am looking to make a little extra cash as I have just lowered my hours at work to part time so I can spend my time at home with my 15 month old daughter.
I have been looking at the GAPbuster site that many of you have been chatting about and wondered if someone could give me a few basic details about it - what shops / do they pay you in cash or products / what's the criteria / etc.
It also asks me to write a statement about why I want to be come a mystery shopper - any tips on what to say?
Thanks in advance! Sarah x0 -

Please remove client name from your post.
The title of this thread says "MYSTERY SHOPPING THREAD 19 - please don't mention client names or fees on here!! "
And I'm fairly certain that you will only get three chances to pass the certification tests. If you do not obtain a 100% score after three attempts you will not be able to complete assignments for the given client. We’ve had to remove your signature. Gapbuster are mainly fast food - you will be reimbursed for what you have to buy and sometimes a small fee on top. Be careful though as the burger store they do forbid you from going there with anyone else and that includes children and babies
As regards why you want to become a mystery shopper, I reckon what you said above is just perfect: " I am looking to make a little extra cash as I have just lowered my hours at work to part time so I can spend my time at home with my 15 month old daughter. "

We can't tell you the client names (although if you look a few posts up you'll see some) pay is normally partly a fee into your bank and partly reimbursement for any products that you have to buy. Criteria for a lot of Gapbusters jobs are that you have to go alone so not great with a young daughter.
Statement about why you want to be a MS I usually say something like wanting to make a difference to customer service.0 -

MG, its not as bad as it sounds. There is quite a bit of work around to be had, and can come in very handy in addition to MS'ing. I particulalry like that you get a brief which makes perfect sense (when you are at home!). You go in with your instructions and people generally treat you with respect. You tend to get paid per job (whether it works or not) and most pay mileage as well. There are no false scenarios, and no acting requirements. The reports are mega easy to complete - yes/no answers.
Although I may have set up a question that asked for negative responses, I much prefer this to MS'ing. HTH:D0 -
For the statement about why you want to be a MS, make sure you give reasons for why you'd be good at it. They're not interested in you having a young daughter and going part time, they're interested in what you can do for them - i.e. you're reliable, trustworthy, have some previous experience that would make you a perfect candidate, etc. If you can link why you'd be good at it and why you want to do it (wanting to improve customer service, not for the money!) you've cracked it.0

Thanks for your replies guys - I thought it was just me:p Its good to hear that others have problems too (in the nicest way of course!):rotfl:I guess the more you do, the more problems you can encounter. I just wondered if I should be doing something differently, or if "Problem Child" would be on the front of my file at the Merchandising companies LOL. It seems silly and pointless to me for companies to pay for me to go round to some supermarkets to take photos of someone elses work. But who am I to argue?:p
Hopefully, it'll get better with practise.
It helps if you can be assertive. When I first started, I was sort of curled up and nervous and mumbled "errrm can I ermmm put this stand up please?" Quite often they said no, and I just said "ok then bye"
If you stand up straight with relaxed shoulders and your head held high and walk with a purpose you look much more confident. I now say "I have a stand for ......., where do you want it putting?" and then it's harder for them to say they don't want itIf they do, I explain why it would benefit the store if they allowed it and sometimes I can persuade them to have it. If it's a male manager, having a nice smile helps too
I like it better than MS work too. Here I go again on my own....0 -
