I agree. I did a couple the other day as I had some time to kill in a particular area. I managed to spend within the reimbursement by purchasing used games.
However once I got home I discovered I could have bought the same games brand new for less on Amazon. I don't know why anyone shops at those places when they are so expensive.
Agree I did 2 - 18 months 2 years ago. Hmmmm Fastest Finger first, finger says yes, head says noooooooooo0 -

There is only one mobile chain starts with X,
I agreed hence the reason I revised my post, although to be fair there are 2 mobile providers that begin with 'X' that have nationwide stores, just 1 in the big 4, but the major '2nd tier' one also has nationwide stores.0 -

Just out of interest, why does everyone think that the MS companies insist on not disclosing clients ?
I mean, let's be honest, each MS company will know which MS co shops which business and they will know how much they pay shoppers per job.
I'm not querying why they shouldn't be mentioned here as it is part of our "employment" terms but just wondered why the MS co's insist on such secrecy.0 -

Hi,
Its not because other MS comps can see what they are doing! I can go and sign up with any client and see everything i want and they can with us ( we have good security so a bit hard ;-) ). Its more so that staff cannot see who is mystery shopping them because then it makes it easier for them to sign up and take the assignment, or know in which date range they will come.
I hope this makes sense?0 -
That's the way I've always thought if it too Max. I'm sure every MS company has members of their own staff signed up with the others, not to accept jobs, but to see the clients, fees, reimbursements, briefs etc etc.
Oh and don't be scared away if a certain someone here starts moaning about you being an uncertified rep on MSE!
The same person who is also moaning about Lizzie breaking the rules of posting, when himself is breaking the 'rules' (yes I know it's a public forum and just because something is on the Original Post of a thread doesn't really make it enforceable, but at the end of the day if just general etiquette that everyone else seems to respect and adhere to), as the First post clearly says that things such as 'The Green supermarket beginning with A, or The Orange DIY chain with 2 letters...) counts just as much as saying the name of the shop itself.Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700 -

And that's great if it suits you. I remember when I first started mystery shopping and someone was saying how they had given up a few months before and were surprised that they felt better off. For years she had spent nights doing long reports thinking she was helping the family's finances and in actual fact she ended up feeling that she had wasted her time.
This made me look at mystery shopping in a different way. I started doing it so I didn't have to go back to full time work when my second child was born. I think its very easy to justify jobs to yourself by thinking "my son needed a new tracksuit" or "I fancy a night out night out anyway". In reality, if my son needs a tracksuit I will go to Asda and pay a fiver. Therefore, if I spend £15 on tracksuit doing a job with no fee, I'm actually only saving the £5 I would have spent (sports shops are usually much more expensive than Asda).
Again, spending £80 on a meal but having £50 of it reimbursed. We normally spend £30 if we go out for a meal anyway and can come home and relax after. No doing a report. Personally, I'd prefer to either go out to somewhere I like, at a time of my choosing, buying what I want to eat and drink with no report after. Especially if I'm still going to spend £30.
But everyone's different. I decided very early on to keep mystery shopping and my normal life as separate as possible.

Agree Max, its also because there are SOME companies that do have clients that rather not be publicised about their MS program... some clients are invite only like certain flights, hotels, holidays, cars etc and companies will not want these poached it may notbe common knowledge who MSes them.
and lastly, Companies like *ahem* that can't be named do covert audit work for large corporations which could include pulling of products etc and they don't want to cause hysteria.0
