Why do people always use white vinegar in w. machines and dishwasher it is much more expensive than value malt?Is there something that I am missing - surely vinegar is vinegar. I know why for cleaning you would use clear.

I was wondering this too! and why use white for cleaning? or am I dim:rolleyes: :p:D

I rarely use the dispenser drawer now (only when I can't find the dreaded dispenser ball lol!) but I do take it out regularly and give it a good scrub in star drops because I hate the thought of the yucky stuff having built up all over it - bleurgh!

I might actually give it a good rinse through tonight as OH is away and he always moans when I clean the WM and DW although I can't work out why... :) His only job is refilling and emptying the dishwasher I deal with almost everything else lol

Most of the manufacturers will give you a free ball if you go to their website or ring up. If you use liquid, Lidl seem to supply balls with every bottle of theirs - I have an old peg bag with about a dozen balls hanging on my cupboard door.

I know you can get free ones but OH seems to mislay them or if on the rare occasion he empties the WM he never bothers to remove the ball from the load before it's put in the TD. Eventually it'll surface and be put on top of the TD where the dog will see it and she is firmly in the faith that all dosing balls are HER toys! :) I go through at least 2 balls a month... if they weren't free i'd be in deep trouble! lol

Because I use the washing balls, I hadn't cleaned my dispenser drawer since I bought the machine (2 1/2 years ago!). Felt a bit guilty that I hadn't at least checked it, so I removed it and had a good look at the drawer itself and behind it. And do you know, all I found was a very thin layer of limescale, which I wiped off with the microfibre cloth - had to use a toothbrush to get into the crannies, but it only took a couple of minutes. No mould, none of that grotty slimy stuff that woman had, and very little limescale (despite being in a hard water area). Definitely cuts down on the cleaning!

Found this website and although it is the company product, some of the suggestions are really useful and at least they do warn you not to use soda crystals with stainless steel - having found out the hard way, I was grateful for this reminder !:D
