Hi

i know quite a few people who have these - they are all parents who have lost a baby & the reasons for havingthem vary immensley from person to person - some people have had them because they have maybe only one or two photos, some people need comfort, i have a miniture one that was made using the 2 photos i have of my daughter it is not on display or played with. I think it is up to individuals what they do with them they are after all causing no harm to anyone else.

Owners of those things are likely candidates for psychotherapy. I don't quite know what else can be said about them.

I think they're creepy and the women who have them are a bit odd to be honest. If people think it's normal for a woman to be pushing one around in a pram, and nipping into mothercare to buy it outfits, would they same the same about a man carrying round a wife/doll - the sort you see coming from Japan, with lady bits and everything?? Personally i think not.

I know someone who has a couple of these-she is undergoing therapy for other things. i don't think she takes hers out though...

I find them a bit creepy but I can understand those who collect and display them, I suppose, it's just a hobby like any other. I really can't understand the ones who act as if they are babies and wheel them round in prams and so on...got to be disturbed in some way. Ultimately it's harmless though, so none of my business.

If you want to see something truly horrible look up 'monkey babies' in the US. Similar sort of idea but including animal abuse as well, sickening.

I think they look nightmarish personally. When they featured that woman who had a whole doll room on the channel 4 documentary it just looked like a room full of dead babies to me.

It was actually a doll of the grandson as a baby, and as far as I recall he thought she was off her rocker!

I find them terrifying. Though I've always even as a child found dolls a bit creepy, I much preferred soft toys.
If I ever feel the need to have something small and helpless look after, I'll get a chihuahua.

I suppose if you loved playing with dolls as a child and have not had children or your children have grown up, maybe it just playing for adults? Id draw the line at taking them outside though, that is a bit weird.

I remember the programme with the granny and wasn't there a woman who took hers to Harrods and paid hundreds for outfits for it?
