Is DMP the answer for me? Please Help!

Hi there, I'm recently separated from an emotionally abusive husband who has left me with a load of debt (£32k in total, one loan and 5 CCs). Things came to light which meant that he had to leave the house immediately and will never be back. Myself and 7 year old daughter are living in the home still. I'm the main breadwinner and I already paid for almost everything, but now I'm also worried I won't cope when (and I think it is just a matter of time) he starts defaulting on the £300 towards the £700 mortgage payments. I was just paying the minumum on most of the cards until the loan was paid off, but that's still a year away. I don't want the seal the debt up in an IVA though as then it can't be used in terms of a settlement for divorce. Do you think it's wise to embark on a DMP? It's just a bit scarey and I've alot going on at the minute but the spiralling interest is making things impossible. Like others on here I have 2 MBNA cards who are also hoiking up the monthly payments so I'll be another £150 down per month from April.

Any input would be most gratefully received!

Many thanks

    Hi

I would repost this on the Debt Free Wannabe board http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76 for the best advice.
Have you worked out a monthly statement of affairs (income & expenditure) to see how far short you are of making your debt repayments?
Have you had any advice from any of the debt charities yet?
