Sainsburys sell own brand cooking red & white wine, round about £1 a bottle & it last ages. I made the most gorgeous red wine & onion gravy with it the other week.0

Hi dizzybee, I buy Aldi's small 25cl bottles of red and white wine for cooking. They're not expensive and, I find, just the right amount for casseroles etc. Hope this helps and enjoy your 'hairy' cooking.

Thanks, I've never ever noticed this but will look next time I'm in - perfect for adding to gravy etc.
Edit: Found it, it's 250ml and £1.02 per bottle.

The Hungarian Merlot is one of the worst wines I've ever drunk but perfectly acceptable to cook with.0 -
Of course, you can always just buy a bottle of the wine you like best, use what's needed for the recipe and drink the rest.0

Don't forget that is you have stuff left over you can freeze it.0

I bought a 25cl. Spanish white wine in the Tesco value range for cooking, but after a quick sip I decided it belonged in a glass, the Sainsburys Basics red is ONLY fit for cooking - I would never be tempted to pursue drinking that beyond the 'quick sip'.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0

I don't get the sainsburies cooking wine but do use the sainsburies basics red for cooking. I don't drink red wine so it is only a cooking thing. I used what I needed for the recipe and frozen the left over wine2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback
