Hello,
I am new to Iphones and need some advice.
At the moment I am using an Nokia standard phone and on an out of contract T Mobile deal (no internet access, just calls and texts). I want to buy an unlocked iphone outright as I will be moving to Spain soon:rotfl: so I will get a Spanish sim card when I there.
Sorry for being dumb but I have a few questions I would appreciate information on.
1. When I buy the iphone can I use my current sim card? Anything else I need?
2. Will I still have the same number?
3. Will my monthly payments with T mobile stay the same or will I have to pay more for internet access?
4. When I move to Spain and a Spanish sim will I have the same number and my phone book on my phone?
5. What would be the cheapest way (apart from Skype, thinking about elderly relatives) to keep in contact with people?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
Best wishes

1 - If the iPhone is unlocked, yes you can.
2 - Yes, the number is linked to the SIM not the phone.
3 - Depends if you use data more on the iPhone, answer is probably yes especially when its new and you 'play' with all the new features.
4 - No you will get a new spanish number. If you save your number to the phone and not the SIM then they will remain on the phone.
5 - email, letters (you know those things you write and post) or possibly a calling card which gives you cheap calls from Spain to UK but you will probably have to phone from a landline.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Spacehopper, I can't answer all your questions, when I was living in Spain, I kept my UK number for trips home/urgent calls, and bought a Pay As You Go from Yoigo, which is a pretty cheap provider compared to some of the others out there. I was only able to get PAYG without a credit history out there.
I also used VoipCheap to make calls home via the internet - whenever you buy credit, you get 90 days landline calls (anywhere in world) for free. OK, it's VOIP so you need a broadband connection, and the line isn't always as clear as Skype but it's better value than Skype I found.
As for broadband itself, Telefonica's charges are absolutely outrageous - you're talking €70 per month for line plus basic broadband - but the other providers have less history. If you can, offer to share with a neighbour at first if you're in an apartment building, or use wifi in cafes etc (obviously depending on your location).0
