Removing an oil boiler

Is removng an old oil fired boiler something a diyer could do? Our very old boiler has got a (water) leak and has been declared unrepairable - ironically the heating has never been better...not least as its on atm to reduce the leaking.
We haven't decided what to do about a replacement but I'm getting through a LOT of towels and now its warm enough I'd like rid of the boiler and to stop wasting oil...as the new system is going to cos a bomb any savings would be good. I've located the oil stop.....
is it ridiculous to attempt this ourselves? I'm hoping as its not gas its possible:o

No real reason why you can not remove this yourself. They are VERY heavy items (worth taking to the scrapyard to collect some cash for your new install if you can move it). There will be the flue to disconnect & the water side to consider isolating too. This depends on your install but if you are a competant DIYer then it should not present too many problems.
Good luck.If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0
