OFCOM have already decided that firms CAN charge for bills, so the choice remains if you want a bill that is chargeable, you have to pay for it. As others have said, print off your bill online if you need a paper trial- and save the money.
  • they have had the information about online billing for ages, it costs a pound for a paper bill or you can sign on to my t mobile and view all of your bill itemised and for free, i think you can view the last 12 mths . to be fair i don't think that's bad, i'm sure SKY charges £3 for a paper bill

LOL - first thing I checked was "do I now have a get out of jail card" when my bill arrived this morning.

I'm off to speak to retentions - my charge for opting out of paper billing and printing off myself is £3. :p

  • Hi guys newbie alert, so please be gentle!
i,ve also had the same problem where the charge has been added to my account and i,ve yet 12 of my 24 month contract remaining,
tried talking to the customer service idiots but cant get any joy as they state "terms and conditions are subject to change" and if i require the paper bill i will have to pay!
again not huge cost involved but surely the principle is wrong as i didnt have to pay initially so why should i have to now!,
can anyone suggest where to go from here!

Being gentle just read the earlier part of the thread, yes paying is a ball ache, but it';s not the end of the world, so recieve the paper bills and pay or look at your bills online saving the additional fee, yes you didn't pay before, but things change over time, you only have 12 months to put up with it then you ca change provider, but be warned they all charge now :o

There isn't actually a handset involved, although if there was I'd certainly be trying to keep it for free :P

Given up with the retentions team, going to complain via Ofcom instead!

This is mostly a "principle" and "see what I can get out of them" issue to me.... I was hoping they would just give me an additional £1 a month discount, and I could then turn off paper billing and pay £4 a month for 300m 300texts and 1gb internet :D

so, basically, because you're unhappy with this, your 'principles' effectively involve defrauding them....all over £1.
i don't see how one can be sympathetic with you over this. no one wants to pay more and it may, in a sense, be unfair, but you have a great deal already.
on the whole, i think charging for paper billing is a good thing. there's is so much wastage and unwanted material sent out. it makes one think what you really want and need on paper, instead of having the attitude of 'let me have everything for free and b~~g~r the consequences'.....

If you haven't got a printer then use something like PrimoPDF
which basiclly prints as pdf file which you can attach to an email and sent it to whoever.

If you have signed up for online billing and have not received any paper bills, do NOT assume T-Mobile have done the right thing and not charged you for paper bills!

I did promptly signed up for no paper bills, have not received any paper bills since, BUT my online statement show an entry for 'Summary Bill 0.83' + VAT.

After calling them, they apologised it was a mistake and refunded previous charges also ensured my account is now correct.

How on earth is it defrauding them?
