internet via mobile pcmcia phone card thingys

Hi , I am moving to a mobile home and wont have tinternet , via phone line etc , has anyone used those pcmcia orange / vodaphone / .... card internet thinies? or know of a review site of them. I know it wont be broad band speed but anything is better than nothing. cheers

The problem with those, is that they have quite restricting limits to the amount that you can upload/download.

but if no one has an internet connection how can we use Fon? has anyone used a 3g data card with any success ? if so who were they with?

I've used a vodafone 3G card, you get just the same service as using a 3G phone linked by bluetooth to the laptop/PC. The tariff on the vodafone was £29/month with a maximum of 50Gb download on either GPRS or 3G (so 100Gb in total). That goes quick!

A mate has just got a phone on T-Mobile and he claims the tariff includes unlimited data, so must be worth checking out.

Speed is in the hundreds of kbits/sec on 3G.

This thread shows how to easily check your usage on a PC and most mobiles have GPRS data counters.

Just to let you know, if you can connect your PC to your phone you can probably use your present phone.

Could use bluetooth to connect or USB cable.

but the networks dont allow you to connect to their gprs service using your handset as a modem for some reason. You can however use a sierra aircard in your laptop or if you want to use in a pc you can get a pci pcmcia card to put in your pc for about a tenner, then you can use any pcmcia card in pc.
With this you can connect to gprs via your pc or laptop. Using your handset to get online you will be using a dialupo connection at very slow speed.

you can get a sierra aircard on ebay cheap enough but make sure its unlocked if you plan to use a diiferent sim.
