We are actually getting away from the point now of MJBs original post.
Sounds like the request was put through more than the times scales we are quoting anyways.

I have recently cancelled my Broadband contract with Orange (I was on an LLU exchange), how do I find out when/if the tag has/will be removed so I can go ahead and order a new service?
I take it the BT number quoted above won't help beacause of the LLU?
cheers

Well they can tell you if an orders been placed to remove the LLU service, but they wont be able to initiate anything at their end as they dont own the service.0 -
Hi All- thanks for debate/help.
I have 2 questions- what is LLU?
Secondly, do BT REALLY give away control of their own lines once broadband is put on it? why would they do this?0 -

LLU basically means your local exchange has been opened up by BT & companies can now put their own equipment in that exchange to provide broadband/telephone services. Some companies have their own engineers to do the maintenance/work on it, some use BT Openreach to carry out their work.
Reason why companies do this is because its cheaper for them to put in their own equipment to provide broadband rather than go through BT Wholesale for the broadband. The end user wont see that much of a difference, the main advantages are for the service provider.0
