    Morning all.

Sistercas, that chicken and chorizo bake looks scrummy, I've added it to my list of things to try. Will change it in for something if it isn't to sucessful for next month. Though it won't be as cheap fo rme as I will have to make one with GF pasta.

It will be a NSD today.

DH was talking about how much we had spent yesterday and I said I had hoped to come in at £500 for all of ur this month. He turned round and said the "actually £120 a month for 5 of us for food, toiletries, cleaning etc. wasn't too bad at all." This is the same man who had a go at me for spending to much on everything when I spent £120. He denied even saying it .

Never mind any extra left from my budget will get syphoned off elsewhere :)

Just realised I need to declare what my total in big numbers so it is picked up so...................

    £500 for April

    please :D

I am another one who forgot it was a 5 week month :o, so I have £9.42 to last me until 31st, which is 1 more main shop. I'll be happy if I come in under £300, which is probably the target I should have set.

Me too - lets try to stick to our budgets together :) We can do it!!

I had another small spend in Sainsburys of £4.79 but only becuase it was reduced stuff so thought it would help me out til the end of the month, I got 5x cans of lager for dh, a pizza, a family pie and jaffa cakes so can't complain :D I think i've enough meals in to last til the end of the month so just need to buy essentials and a few basics that i've run out of.

Update following big shop yesterday - another £43.63 spent in Mr T, which included some extra ingredients to do a "nice" tea - Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals special - though think he must have a time machine to get done in that time.

Brings the running total up to £186.44/£240, but still one more big shop to do, and I have a sneaking suspicion my list was not really comprehensive this week so may need a top up mid week.
Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage :o) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

  • Just input my latest shop bill from Mr S to mysupermarket site - my bill £78.32 compared to Mr T £84 and Mr A £86for same/similar items and as for the other one - over £100. Pleased to have spent time doing the comparisons and not worth my time and petrol to trek to the others to save small pennies for things we like.

I forgot to update a spend as Mr A on Thursday, £35.18, so have updated signature now. I don't have much left for the month. I too forgot it was a 5 week month. I have been rumaging in the freezer and store-cupboard. Have tried to meal plan with as little to be bought on our weekly Wednesday shop. I will possibly have a very grumpy DS1 this week as he is a very fussy eater, but it will be tough. Its quite fun to clear out the backs of cupboards.

I have had 3 NSD since Thursday, and am aiming to try to get to Wednesday before spending again. It depends on the milk.

Today we are having HM tomato and lentil soup with HM wholemeal bread. For dinner HM meatballs, sauce and pasta with HM olive tear and share bread and HM rice pudding. That little lot should stick to the ribs :rotfl:.

Good luck to those nearing the end of the month. Well done to those who came in under. You get another chance in April if you blew the budget :T.
  • Oh dear.

 Morning. I'll be totting up my receipts next week but I'm expecting to be over budget as it is the first attempt at setting a budget and was a guestimate. I've deliberately added it up so I can see how bad our spending habits had got! :o HOWEVER having scanned over them a good chunk has been stashing of deals which will carry over into April and in some things maybe even May. :D:D Thanks to Mr Li*l I still have mince and pork chops in the freezer which have been joined by a huge stash of chicken, Mr T's Lurpak deal is taking up some more space and the shed has a good supply of food for doglet and the demented rabbit not to mention hay and sawdust (that creature is a poo machine! :()

My main shop or this week on the meal plan as a result came to just over £20 in Li*l. With a £9 ish top up at Mr S for things I couldn't get at Li*l. That's breakfasts for 4, Lunches for 3 and teas for 4. :D

MiL, having asked "Why all the money saving?" yesterday :mad::mad:, was treated to a 15 minute rant of explanation and now finally seems to be getting the message , particularly as I pointed out that without it her contribution would have to rise . Amazing how THAT got through!

No more shops for me yet, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for grapefruit? I've got 4 tins of it, but don't like it on it's own :o Any nice receipes anyone?!? :D Thank you :D
