Natural History museum, definitely. It's great! Or if the weather's nice go and feed the birds and squirrels in St. James' Park, and look for the pelicans. The aquarium's ok, and you can usually get offers to go in, BOGOF or kids go free. I wouldn't bother with the eye, we took ours when she was 6 or 7, and she was bored! Think she thought it was a giant ferris wheel!

  • Definitely agree about the Natural History Museum and St James' Park (be prepared to have squirrels try and climb your leg though!). The zoo is good but I'd use the 2 for 1 train tickets as it's not cheap.

Other ideas might be to go up to Covent Garden and watch the street performers, or to go on the number 17 bus (still served by Routemasters, goes round most of the major sites and cheaper than an organised tour bus).

  • When we were on South Bank last week advertising was in full swing for the half-term children's things on there. Then there's the living statues, street performers, London Eye etc.
