Using Shampoo in the Washing Machine

I remember someone posting not so long ago saying they used value shampoo, a scoop of value bio washing powder and a few drops of lavender essential oil, to wash clothes with. Sorry I can't remember their name, think it was made in a litre fabric conditioner bottle HTH0

Thanks for the link Pink-Winged that was it exactly.
Has anyone got any suggestions where I can buy strong scented essential oil cheaply?0 -
I don't know about shampoo in the washing machine but I was told that shampoo or shower gel is better for your delicates.0

Essential oils really shouldn't be cheap, because then there is the big risk that it is a blended oil.
(a cheaper carrier oil plus a very small amount of essential oil)
If you are looking for just a nice smell by all means buy a cheaper oil, but an essential (imho) does so much more than just perfume.
I would for an essential oil buy the dearest you can afford (maybe share a bottle with someone?) and for perfuming buy whatever you like the smell of (labelled essential or not).
Just thought I'd butt in, please ignore if not wanted0 -
I read (about 6 weeks ago) a thread where someone was boosting their laundry detergent with the above-1 litre for 22p. Its seems OK-I add a bit to my wash.0

Thanks Sentora, I was just wanting some oil to make the sheets smell a bit fresher.0

washing powders/liquids contain anti-foaming agents, to my knowledge shampoo does not, you may end up in a comedy scenario where you have a kitchen filled with foam from using shampoo, please let us know how it goes :-)0

Essential Oil Direct sell very well priced essnetial oils - the belended ones are very clearly marked as such but their lavender and tea tree are fab for around the house applicationsPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

this is the stuff, either one although tesco's has updated theirs so it looks more like the sainsburys one now, both smell like oranges.0 -
Now I'm thinking! I bought a bottle of Sainsbury's own brand, basic liquid laundry detergent for a quid. So I'm now thinking of making my own kind of liquid gloop by mixing say a litre bottle of that with 6 bottles of the 22p shampoo with a few drops of smelly oil added for good measure!
So tell me, I'm a bit confused here. With regards to the difference between essential oil and blended oil for the purpose of adding a scent to washing liquid. Should I be using an essential oil or a blended oil? I'm a little confused?0
