Total newbie flat renter in need of a little advice...

Hello!

I'm in a total whoopsi here, I've moved into a one bed, three roomed flat on the ground floor with only car park beneath me and three exterior walls.

I was on the 'Economy7' tariff, and they charged me £107 for the first quarter, but I only moved in, in the later half. Panicking I had a lengthy chat to EDF and they changed me to a different tariff which I believe is a £50 a month standard DD...

I've tried to search for a 'Alto AL3644 Storage Heater' manual with no luck as Wiki states that 'On Peak' (see picture) is the socket with a fuse, but when turning on the other socket (apparently off-peak), the heater doesn't come on and it's 23:00 and super cold up in my flat!! :(

Also am I correct in thinking that input is how much heat to store? Output is how much to release into the room?

And when you turn the 1 to 5 dial on the side next to a red switch, it controls the temperature of the room overall?

I'm so confused and the internet isn't doing it's normal job of allowing my brain to comprehend.

Here's a picture of my circuit nonsense if it helps :'(

Should I ask to go back onto Eco7 as Google tells me that's what my heater was designed for as I'm working a 9 to 5, 5 day week?
Should I leave the off peak switch on 24/7 while it's cold or will it cost me loads more?
Anyone got a 'First Time Electric Only Flat Dwellers for Dummies' guide?

idk what to do and I can't seem to find the help I really need :(

Also, as I have two immersion heater switches on my circuit breaker wall box (I'm assuming that means it's for hot water), if I turn off the 'on-peak' switch, it will only use anything between 7am and mignight so I'll have hot water in the morning but not at night? And a mysterious random switch just outside my bathroom which is permanently off is another immersion heater switch?

The building is less than 6 years old (I believe). Idk what else to add... I deal with ignorant people every day and it really annoys me and I hate not knowing about stuff in my own home! Bah!

If EDF knew you had storage heaters and switched you back to a standard tariff then they are idiots. If you have storage heaters then you need to be on E7, using them on a standard tariff means that you are getting no off peak E7 benefit. The downside of all storage heaters is that they store heat in the cheap rate E7 hours (usually midnight to 7am) and release it during the day-this means that by the time you mention (11pm) they may well have exhausted their stored heat. So not idea if you work 9-5. Modern ones (which presumably you have) tend to be more controllable. Try turning the input up and the output down. If you can't get the necessary ouput later in the day the the only solution is to top up with conventional electric heating.
Your immersion heater should be set to use the E7 rate so that it heats up before the end of the E7 period (say 5am to 7am or similar). The 'on-peak' switch is a boost to switch it on at any time if you run out of hot water-however this will be charged at the peak rate if you use it.
As a rough guide you need to be using no less than about 30% of your total units on cheap rate to make E7 work-with storage heaters this should be possible.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
