Not Hoxton Hotel for £1 now where?

Having missed out on the £1 room offer (so close twice!) can anyone suggest an alternative good value for money hotel? I'd hoped to get a room for OH's birthday, but now all that is available are the £99 rooms!

  • ok if you dont mind taking the tube for a bit, you can try formula 1 hotels...

and if you dont care about the comfort, try hostelbookers.com, they do private rooms for 2...

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W

    Hope that helps

Travelodge are having their £15 rooms sale, last time I looked TL King's Cross was at £15 but obviously that could have changed.

My favourite resource for checking the price of (non-travelodge) rooms in an area is https://www.hotelscomparison.com (possibly https://www.hotels-comparison.com). It goes to loads of different providors like hotelopia and opodo and reports back with the cheapest prices.

Did anyone else get error messages with the £1 deal? I was online at 12-20 and tried constantly the instant the offer opened but i kept getting a website error. When i foned the staff were very very blunt and less than helpful.
I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

Yes, this happened to lots of people ( two threads on it http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=280889&highlight=hoxton and http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=306593&highlight=hoxton )
When I emailed the hotel they said the error message meant the rooms had already sold out, however I am inclined to think that it was more likely their website wasn't working properly ( if you look at the later posts on the above threads you'll see what I mean )- but you were not alone!

    Yes, loads of people.
It was inundated and completely expected.

It probably meant that by the time you got from putting the room in your "basket" to checking out that the rooms were gone.

I got a room for £29 1 night and £59 the next night.
I reckon that standard and location is a bargain for those prices, so I was happy.

The people that did best were those that were already registered and used the HTML website rather than the slower flash version.
  • It didn't mean the rooms were sold - I tried at least 6 times for a room on 4th April and got the error everyone was getting. Eventually when I went in to the HTML version and attempted to book the same date, I managed to book it OK.

If this offer comes round again - go straight to the HTML version!
