  • would you not have been entitled to Maternity Allowance? If you haven't been in a job long and you don't qualify for statutory maternity pay, you might be able to get this. Look into it. Not sure if you can backdate. I got it with all 3 of my children.

You need to have worked 26 weeks in the previous 66 weeks before the expected week of child birth
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.
  • Hi

I have spilt up with my boyfriend and I am going to stay in the laready small and relevantly cheap house. But after paying rent, council tax, gas/elec, water, tv and two loan repayments, I literally have £20 - £50 leftover for the month - for food and to have a life.

Is there anything I am entitled to ? and which benefits and where do I go to get the claim going and money in my account as soon as poss as its the end of the month on Mon and bills will need to be paid !

    I am really worried :(

  • im 22 and my gross annual earnings is like £12,000 and I got a grant for £200. I went to citizens advice today and apparently there's nothing for me!!
  • Is £12,000 a low enough income to get an HC1 form to get discounts/free prescriptions, glasses etc

Have you considered re-negotiating your loan repayments, maybe ask for a reduction for a 6 month period whilst you balance your finances, your priority bills rent, ct, elec, gas, tv licence and food need to be paid and then work out what you can realistacally pay off your loans, CAB should help
