Orange iPhone scam.

We have three phones with Orange on monthly contracts, my wife has a Nokia and my two daughters have an iPhone4 each. I use my mobile (Samsung) very little so just have an Orange pay as you go sim.
I noticed my wife was due an upgrade but she said she is happy with her phone and does not want to change it. I like the iPhone4's and I wondered if I could wangle myself one.
I contacted Orange and asked if it would be ok to get my wife an iPhone as an upgrade, but actually use it myself with my own PAYG sim, I realised I would have to keep her contract going for another 24 months, also there would be a charge for the phone of £237.
Orange said that it was possible for me to do this however, the iPhone takes a smaller sim. I would have to get a new PAYG sim at a cost of £25 per month.
I told them to go swivel.
(I also changed plans and reduced my wife's contract by £10 per month).
This doesn't seem like good business to me? They have lost a 24 month contract at a higher rate and the sale of an iPhone.
Now, where did I see that ad for the HTC Desire...

You could always ask for a 3GS which takes a standard sim or just cut your sim to size.0

"PAYG sim at a cost of £25 per month" - this cannot be correct, can it?0

yeah more likely they meant a one of charge, and even that's expensive. If you wanted the iphone 4 im sure you could easily get your simcard cut for a couple of pounds to fit inside the phone.0

Hi Harveycat
Sorry to hear about your recent experience. It sounds like there may have been some kind of mix up regarding our Pay As You Go iPhone 4 Micro-SIMs.
Our Pay As You Go iPhone 4 Micro-SIMs are not £25.00 per month. They are available for a one off charge of £15.00 (plus a £10.00 compulsary top-up). This then comes with 250MB UK mobile internet browsing each month for 12 months, for no extra charge.
I hope this helps.

Not when you get free data for a year. A FOC SIM will not provide this.0
