phones4u /diala phone do a few t-mobile deals where they set the free booster to be internet

It is my understanding that this is a 500mb fup addition from feb 1
What I can not find out is whether the internet booster allows you to get the full HSPDA speed or just 3g. The later would make the benefit of a android phone redundant on a t-mobile via phones 4u. Have any desire users that purchased via phones 4u got the full speed or not ?

  • I got my T-Mobile phone through a third party and can confirm that if it's just the internet booster, it's throttled. You need to be on Web n Walk Plus for it not to be, as far as I know... and I believe they only automatically stick Android phones on the WnW+ if they're bought direct from T-Mobile, as opposed to through a third party. Shame I didn't know this before I signed up.

They don't officially acknowledge the fact that they throttle the speeds on the non plus version of WnW, though, so I've yet to convince them to unthrottle it for me (HTC Desire). :(
  • I have WnW+ bought direct from T-mobile and it is throttled at 1.7Mbps even on HSDPA.

Jealous... the non plus WnW is throttled at approx 0.35 Mbps. :(

So even WnW+ is throttled? Is there any unthrottled option? Probably would mean "spend 20 quid on our mobile broadband!" to get it. Unlimited internet booster my bum.
