So was merrily sat playing on the computer and then it all kind of froze even though connection to internet was fine and router was flashing. But i knew something was wrong so i closed down everything tried to update Mbam but that didnt work so then i restarted computer and disconnected the router for a short while.
now its all back on but it is just a black screen with my icons and not my screen saver and now it is telling me my copy of windows 7 is not genuine..
Have updated both MBam and done a scan but it only picked up an old casino log that i stopped using and uninstalled this week.. any ideas?

Have you got automatic updates turned on?
Service pack 1 is now available and may have installed last night 22/02,this includes windows activation technology and like you I had the same black screen on one of my PC's (legit win 7),rebooted and everything was fine.Other PC's installed no problem
If a reboot doesnt sort this for you try reactivating windows online if this fails you can reactivte via telephone.0 -
Obvious thing first - are you sure you have a genuine version? Did you buy it yourself and install it / did it come with the PC (if so where did you buy the PC) etc.0
-
Yes it came with the computer i bought from Dell and is Legit.. Never knew an update happened last night. rebooted 3 times now and still asking for the activation code..0

Try reactivating online
Rtclick my computer>properties>
shows wether windows is activated and genuine if not you should be able to activate online0 -
just done that but cant find where it says if activated or genuine..
sorry0 -
Windows key and Pause/break brings up same screen
Towards bottom on left side under Windows Activation it should say if windows is activated or not
You can also change the product key here, do this using the key supplied on the MS Sticker then reactivate online or by phone0 -
Got someone from Microsoft now trying to sort it out - just done a diagnostic check and it comes up everything 100% genuine
Using this should anyone else want to know http:// go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=560620 -
Glad its getting sorted0

I'd be interested to know how you get on with this. Not sure if this information will be of any use to you along the way.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop here that's choking while attempting to install W7SP1. Tried Win Update, tried standalone. It either hangs or does a BSoD restart.
It's a fresh install for a customer, legit Product Key, etc. SP1 already installed fine on an Acer desktop and a Toshiba laptop I'm also working on but the Dell is having none of it. I've tried all the Microsoft suggestions and other knowledge base sources but it really is trying my patience now. I'm wondering if it is related to Dell software or drivers in someway.
If I find anything useful I'll post again.0 -
