Phones4U/Carphonewarehouse query

If you get a contract from P4U or CPWH who do you deal with upon activation of the contract and phone?

My 18 month deal runs out in 4 months and I've been looking around (to see what's good, when I ring retentions), but thought if I don't get an offer I like from the network and go with one of those companies do you still deal direct with the network if you have any problems etc

Many friends have told me to stay clear of these companies and have bad experiences and say they are awful, but at the mo, the deals I've seen are much cheaper with them than direct with a network.

Any information on how these 3rd parties work would be greatly appreciated.

You deal with the network for any problems with billing service etc, but CPW for issues with the phone, as they are the retailer.

They work on commission they receive from the operators for selling their contracts.
They share this commission with you by offering a lower prices (CPW) or some 'gifts' (P4U, d-a-p, e2save, osps, ...).
You deal with these companies with regard to the phone and the 'gift'.
You deal with the mobile operator with regard to the contract. The operator bills you directly.
  • And you deal with the courts if the "gifts" fail to arrive...
