It's the same with companies who spray foam under your tiles on the inside, waste of time.
Just a nice fresh thick layer of loft insulation is all that is needed. :cool:0 -
some of those scam companies supply both products.Get some gorm.0

Im not related to this business but have done considerable research on them;
I assume the initial claim about 25% was a sales quote based on an uninsulated loft, and as you say you have adequate insulation IF your roof is in good repair. If it is not in good repair the claim may be substantiated?
Firstly ive reviewed their website and their directors - the claims do stand up, so docmatt's comments are wrong he should research this product and company before making comments like "total con" google them, and watch the video and testimonials, I bet he thinks the internet in a total con LOL. omus; yes, its like paint and was developed by NASA NANO tech, but interestingly also does EVERYTHING it says on the tin. with millions invested by the largest tech R&D in the world I would think this works better than a well known rain shield (which incidentally ruined my neighbours walls... bargainbetty's comments are sensible and a look at companies house web check will be useful, however DORMANT means it has had no ´significant accounting transactions´ during the accounting period. A ‘significant accounting transaction’ is one which the company should enter in its accounting records. This may be one of several companies they registered to protect copyright; they may trade as this but the registered name may be different, it may be they are playing with their accounts to avoid (not EVADE) tax the change of Directors has no significance at all however in this case they have terminated a director which my research shows is a positive step. My advice is ask for references, Only listen to comments that are unbiased and offer real advice. Ignore rants that are unsubstantiated, no one is perfect in this market but some are MUCH better than others - my researched and considered opinion is Hot house Roof and now Solar is up there if not at the top of the tree. I hope this helps.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Backflip 768 is clearly associated with the company, perhaps a salesman or director.
Please steer well clear of this Cowboy outfit.
A couple of weeks ago my brother was talked into signing up on the spot for a 3.2kwp Solar Panel System which would cost £12,000 and required a £1000 deposit which fortunately he paid by Credit card. He had been advised by the pushy salesperson that the system would make him a profit of £86,500 over the next 25 years if average sunshine is maintained. This is a ridiculously high figure, as other reputable companies are predicting a profit of £21k to £25K for this type of system.
We then researched the company and he decided to cancel. Before doing so he got a phone call from Hot House Roof Company and when he told them of his decision to cancel, he was advised that me must complete and sign the 7 day cooling off notice and either email it or post it to the company by recorded delivery. He did both and did not receive a "Read Receipt" from the email and has had no reply to his letter. He has since phoned them on numerous occasions and they never pick up the phone. Perhaps they have already gone out of business. This company offers a 25 years guarantee on its solar panels, which I suggest is less worth than the paper it is written on.
Steer well clear of them and beware of them changing their name again soon.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -
Thanks for all the comments. I've just had two phone calls from this company who happen to be in my area offering quotes. I think I'll let them come round and see what they say. I don't have the money to pay for any of their products and I've already been told that my roof's not suitable for solar panels.
While writing this, I've had a third call from them checking tonight's appointment. This is going to be interesting. They haven't even managed to get my name right so far.0 -
See Aquashield comments on this forum, they destroyed this industry 2-3 years ago by making these claims and doing bad work. These 'new ' co's are just spin offs . the coatings work in hot countries to keep heat out. There is no way 25% can be saved in this way. ALL the proof is based on reflected heat from the sun bouncing back and reducing heat under the tiles. For this it works reflacting 25% of the heat source back to the atmosphere...... for the northern hemisphere.... forget it.
PS current market value for nanotechnology coatings in Middle East, Med, Far East and southern USA states, is $600 million a year.0 -
Well, the visit from the salesman was very pleasant as he didn't try to sell me any coatings, just solar panels. He was impressive. However, I'm still uneasy that the literature from Hot House shows the MCS logo but they're not listed on the MCS site. I'd love to have solar panels but will take more advice before doing anything further.0
