hot roof co?

Options
Anyone heard of the hot house roof company?

I've just had a call from someone claiming that 25% of my heating is wasted by going through the roof, even although I have 300mm of loft insulation.

How can a coating on your tiles stop 25% of your heat when the loft is insulated and ventilated?

Another con I suspect.

Its gibberish ignore them, with that much loft insulation your fine.

A "hot roof" is simply one that is insulated as opposed to a cold roof that isnt. Its a terminology often used with flat roofing.

coating is just a fancy name for paint. give it a fancy name and charge 10 times the price.

I have no intention of getting it I was just astounded at their claims.

I have found out where they got my info from, my OH had an automatated phone call asking to do an energy survey, press 1 for yes 2 for no etc. and win £50 of M&S vouchers.

So she did it. She, of course, knows not to give out bank or credit card details but she is a bit of a comp enterer so she thought why not.
  • I read the comments with surprise and hope that people with a level of intelligence might answer with either sound advice or say nothing; The comments are are of no value and negative for what I can only assume is personal gratification. Im not related to this business but have done considerable research on them;
I assume the initial claim about 25% was a sales quote based on an uninsulated loft, and as you say you have adequate insulation IF your roof is in good repair. If it is not in good repair the claim may be substantiated?
Firstly ive reviewed their website and their directors - the claims do stand up, so docmatt's comments are wrong he should research this product and company before making comments like "total con" google them, and watch the video and testimonials, I bet he thinks the internet in a total con LOL. omus; yes, its like paint and was developed by NASA NANO tech, but interestingly also does EVERYTHING it says on the tin. with millions invested by the largest tech R&D in the world I would think this works better than a well known rain shield (which incidentally ruined my neighbours walls... bargainbetty's comments are sensible and a look at companies house web check will be useful, however DORMANT means it has had no ´significant accounting transactions´ during the accounting period. A ‘significant accounting transaction’ is one which the company should enter in its accounting records. This may be one of several companies they registered to protect copyright; they may trade as this but the registered name may be different, it may be they are playing with their accounts to avoid (not EVADE) tax the change of Directors has no significance at all however in this case they have terminated a director which my research shows is a positive step. My advice is ask for references, Only listen to comments that are unbiased and offer real advice. Ignore rants that are unsubstantiated, no one is perfect in this market but some are MUCH better than others - my researched and considered opinion is Hot house Roof and now Solar is up there if not at the top of the tree. I hope this helps. :)

You really have no clue at all do you? The loft insulation keeps the heat underneath the bedroom ceiling. Above that ceiling you could have a wind tunnel in your loft and it won't make any difference.
docmatt's comments are wrong. yes, its like paint and was developed by NASA , but interestingly also does EVERYTHING it says on the tin.

Again, no clue. I don't care if the paint has been devloped by God himself. Painting roofs does not keep the heat in. It's like a tarmac drive, looks good when you pay.

I'm a roofer, who employs 17 other roofers, ask any of them about 'roof coatings' It's all a shower of !!!!!!. Unfortunately in the last 5 to 9 years companies have jumped on this bandwagon as it's an easy brainwashing convincing sales ploy.

Take the house below. 'Coated' only 5 years ago and charged the elderley couple £5000. We took all the tiles off did a complete strip, felt, lath and tile for £3.5k

Of course the testimonials on their own websites will only say good things you dingbat. You only need to do a search on roof coating companies to get some real feedback from real customers...

Now Mr Mark Brown save yourself further embarassment by not posting again.
  • Backflip768 You have been talkng trollups (nice word for bollx) The ;paint; as few seem to call it is deisgned to keep heat OUT from the coated surface. Indeed NASA did 'invent' these systems to stop the astonuts boilding there bolls off on re-entry. Thefre is no way in this world that this 'coating' has any measurable effect at keeping your loft warm. There are far to many gaps in all roofs to make any difference. ALL of the research and "proof" is sold showing REFLECTIVE heat. Great if you live in the South of France and run an air conditioner in every room and have solid concrete roof structures with NO insulation. All the other coments about coatings are just what people believe and shoulod be taken with a pinch. DESPITE the PROOF I would steer away from HOT ROOF as they are just twisting the facts and this system will NOT save you ANY money on your bills. If is doner well it will make ur roof look better for 5-6 yrs: If done badly... 3-5 months.
