Ebay purchase problem, can anyone help please?

Hi,
We bought a sky + hd box buy it now for £45 , i went and collected it and paid cash. We have plugged it in and it does not work The seller is saying no refunds this is what the advert said:
GRAB A BARGAIN I AM SELLING MY EX HUSBANDS THINGS AS THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE GARAGE GETTING IN MY WAY AND NEED TO GO I HAVE NOT TESTED ANY OF THE ITEMS I AM SELLING AS I DONT HAVE THE TIME BUT LAST TIME THEY WERE USED WAS ONLY 3/4 MONTHS AGO AND WERE ALL WORKING IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
I NO LONGER HAVE SKY SO THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED
CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY
NOT SURE ON MEMORY SIZE
RRP £ 189/200
Then there is another load of blurb and then says no returns!
Can we open a dispute, she is adamant she is not going to give a refund

You will struggle with a claim as the item was not guaranteed as working, and having paid cash you have very little eleway via ebay.

I always go to E Bay with problems because they can often "help out" so to speak. Any seller worth their weight would also not want bad feedback, (it's a pride thing) so, it's also worth communuicating with the seller and suggest that you have the option to leave neg feedback or open a dispute, BUT DON'T make idle threats, if you say your going to pursue it, allow reasonable time THEN pursue it Hope this helpsIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better,you know you had a good day!!0

not sure why people buy items that there is a very good chance will not work..... ?

It's a great pity that there are some on E Bay that are less than genuine, it puts a sour taste in the mouth.
I like to think that I give the same service that I wish to receive, but sadly that is not everyone's philosophy

The term :I NO LONGER HAVE SKY SO THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED
is usually an indication that item does not work.
