I need a wireless adaptor?

Options
I recently joined Sky and I am reading the My Broadband page which says that if I want to go wireless with Sky I will need a Sky Wireless Adaptor? What's this?

I wasn't told about this on the phone? Isn't all internet wireless and no extra cost these days?

In short, it is a radio receiver.

    No.

Sky will have sent you a router that has wireless capability as standard, but you still need the receiver (commonly referred to as a "dongle") in order to complete the picture.
Pretty much every laptop/netbook/smartphone has the receiver as standard, but if you have a machine that doesn't have a receiver fitted then you have to pay for that yourself if you want to connect your machine to the internet without wires when at home.

However just because you have a wireless router, it doesn't mean that you have to use it wirelessly. If your laptop/PC is near to your router, then much better ust to connect by ethernet-more reliable, faster and no wireless security issues.
    All internet is not wireless.

Yeah I have been speaking about the whole wireless vs wired connection on another site in regards to my X-Box. I will save myself £50 if I do not go wireless with the laptop.

You must have the only laptop on the planet that does not have a built in wireless receiver, whats the make and model?
