can i change isa now?

hi,i opened an isa with first direct on 20/3/10 and transfered in a lump sum from a previous isa.this had a special bonus of 3% for 12 months then drops,i have added funds to this isa since 5/4/10 but not the full amount.what i want to know is can i transfer the whole amount out now if i find a good deal with a bonus?im thinking of halifax,or do i have to wait until after 5/4/11

    You can transfer as soon as you wish (provided the First Direct account doesn't tie you in for a full year to 20/3/11?). The fact you've contributed part of the current year allowance isn't material on a transfer .... provided you're transferring all of this year's contributions that you've made.

    If you're thinking of adding more funds prior to 6th April - probably best to do it before the transfer.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
