Sofa Delay? My rights..

Hello there this is my first post so I hope someone can help.
I ordered a sofa and coffee table form Easy Living Furniture in Jan of this year.
I was looking for both to get within a 1-2 week timeline. I hadn't had much luck but at Easy Living I had found exactly what I was looking for, at a great price and had good service so I didn't mind waiting the 6 weeks I was promised.
I was told to call on 6th Feb to arrange delivery that week. Unfortunately there had been a delay with the sofa so they could only deliver the table (on sat 12th) the manager told me it would be a 2 week delay and to call back. this was not great but as they would have to make 2 delivery without charging me extra I though I would just let it go for an easy life. I rang on Monday of this week and unfortunatly the manager is on holiday but after some work I have been told the sofa will be in fact another 2-3 weeks so delivery in 3-4 weeks.
Now to the point, I clearly wouldn't have ordered the sofa from them had I know that it would have taken this long. It is however not worth me cancelling due to going to the back of the q for another order elsewhere.
I am going to write a letter but has anyone experience as to whether I am in my rights to expect some sort of compensation and if so what has been offered to people in a similar position?
Thanks in advance.

If they state an order time, then that should form part of your contract with them. If they fail to deliver within that period, they have broken the contract and you should be able to cancel the order without penalty.
I had a similar problem with some blinds I ordered and they failed to deliver within the timescale that they had set, so I cancelled and got a refund off them straight away.
I doubt very much you would be able to receive compensation, as you would have to prove a material loss.0 -
So basically its put up and shut up.
If I cancel I will have to try and find something elsewhere and have to go to the back of the que!0 -
The information given is correct but I would question that you have to contact them regarding delivery. Surely even as a goodwill gesture they should contact you at their expense rather than yours? 'Manager on holiday' not good enough, there must be someone appointed to take responibility during their absence. I would be asking for a name, someone who is dealing with this personally who can give you some definite idea of delivery time. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I was in exactly the same situation as the OP. I bought a sofa on a purchase agreement (£50 a month for 15 months) + deposit paid
I got the same run-around with constantly delayed deliveries, now Easy Living furniture have gone into administration. I think they knew about it all along but forgetting that.
Can I still get my sofa?
- If not, can I get my deposit back? (I paid with VISA debit)
- If not, will I still be held to the purchase agreement, even without delivery of the sofa?0 -
I'm afraid that you'll join the long list of creditors. You should be contacted by the administrators or if you can find out who is handling it you could contact them. You would have had better cover if you'd used a credit card instead of a debit. I'm sorry, I'm not really up to date with this. If you ordered online you'll have different rights under the long distance selling regulations.
Added: I see by Easy Livings website that the administrators are setting up a website for claimants. I would keep an eye on that...
