I have a feeling they are using the same technology used by mobile broadband dongles. What you have is essentially 2 drives in one. The first one (the one that shows as 9.89Mb) is a read-only EEPROM which is factory-loaded with content, whilst the second drive is a bog-standard FlashRAM bashed USB Pendrive.
Try closing-down the window that pops-up in autorun then openning 'my computer' to see how many devices it sees. If it sees 2 devices, right-click on the smaller of the 2 and select properties. This will usually show-up as a CD drive if it is not writable.Never Knowingly Understood.

I used Ubuntu's Startup Disk Creator to erase a memory stick after trying some of the solutions above. HTHPeel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0

Using a Live Cd ubuntu (look for GParted) or Partition Magic delete all partitions and the MBR then make one partition and make it active.0
