Housing Benefit: Any other income?

I know I shouldn't be responding...The OP obviously has more benefit than they need as he's down the bookies frittering away money I pay into the bloody system!
If he has, say £20 a week to go gambling benefit away, then his HB should be cut accordingly.
Or is he comfortable to know he could be depriving those in genuine need which is what the system is for!?
I'm assuming he wins every now and again. The return to player on horses is around 90%. So assuming he only spends £20 then his loss would only be £2 per week. He may also "lay" the horses elsewhere ensuring a win no matter what the outcome so would be making a small profit which isn't declared as income but it is declared as capital.
Also, what is genuine need? If he's not working then isn't he in genuine need? Even if he has according to the system up to £6,000 in cash for gambling with. I'm not personally depriving anyone in genuine need they can all claim benefits just as I do.:):footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Happy MJ. Thanks for that. If I wasn't on the winning side I would not be betting.
Unfortunately this was not the subject of my post.

Do I have to declare my profits from gambling to my Local Council under the "Any other income" section of the Claim form or Change of Circumstances" form.

I should imagine that if the money won each week is large enough, then yes you should declare it under "any other income". Which does beg the question, if you have enough money to fritter away gambling, why are you claiming HB??????0 -
As was answered in post 2 this is not correct. He may not quite have enough money to support himself without the help of means tested benefits to which he is entitled to claim. It is not a requirement of HB to claim JSA or IS to get a payment of HB. As he has stated he does not fritter it away as he makes a profit every week.I should imagine that if the money won each week is large enough, then yes you should declare it under "any other income". Alleycat and Bettie many thanks for your responses which were very helpful (unlike the rubbish we got from the two clowns that cannot help putting in their two pence worth)

Do what you like OP I don't care because how you get off benefits is ultimately the question. Now the !!!! hits the fan factors like Ageism, Disabilism, mentalism so I hope you do well at your gambling thing. personally I would not go for something so emphemeral and do something more solid. Good luck. Perhaps those attacking so called benefits cheats might take their aim at the considerable losses due to Tax Evasion by Big Business and super rich.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B

No, you just don't see it do you?
You obviously receive too much benefit as you're in the blooming bookies every day!
Now how can you do that? How can you afford to gamble yet claim to the social you are in need of benefit?
Take a look in the mirror!0
