BMIbaby problems - flight cancellation help

I purchased a BMIbaby flight and thought i'd be able to cancel (with an admin charge of £25) so i just rang up their hotline to cancel. They tell me the only thing i can recover is my taxes so i said how much is this, they tell me £10!! I said, nowhere on my itinerary does it say my taxes come to £10. It actually says
Flights £ 5.08 x 1 passenger £ 5.08taxes & charges £ 50.90 Subtotal £ 55.98
Plus my debit card fee. She then proceeds to tell me its the £10 airport tax? I ask her how does it help anyone when they have to pay £25 to recover £10 back? to which she has no answer. I am absolutely fuming and will never fly with them again. Can someone explain to me if this is correct as i am going to write a letter to head office as this is absolutely AWFUL customer service.

I guess this is what she was talking about, my air passanger duty of "£10" compared to the admin fee of £25! WOW i am never flying with them again, they are so unhelpful and would rather pay more and get decent customer service.
google reclaim APD (im new and not allowed to post links apparently) it talks about how the admin fees outweight the APD.0 -
Well i've dealt with qantos before and their customer service was amazing compared to this, i paid a small admin fee and they cancelled my flight for me within minutes and were very helpful. Obviously I can't fly with them between places in the UK but i would rather go easyjet or flybe than BMI now.0

For most of the 'cheap' airlines the fee is more than you can reclaim. This is to stop people reclaiming as this requires them to have back office staff to deal with such claims.
The rule is therefore simple, dont book if you dont want to fly. If you do have to cancel for a valid reason claim off your travel insurance.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Just trying to think where you can get to on qantAs for £50.00 including the basic fare, taxes & fee's.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, still thinking.i would rather go easyjet or flybe than BMI now.
And what makes you think that these airlines have any better T&C's on cancellation & refunds?

It shouldn't matter how much the flight cost, what matters is customer service. Especially since i have flown to Ireland with them almost every weekend and been a loyal customer. They have definitely lost my custom as a result of this.0

I would check their T&C's before you do.0 -

I wouldn't have wanted to be the BMI Baby agent on the phone with you.. your post here at basics is highly embarrassing. If you're going to write a letter (useless, but there we go), don't be as dramatic as you're being here.. no one at any company wants your smart comments about whether you're going to fly them again or not.
But heyho, blame everyone but yourself.0
