Orange 'care' insurance

Last month, my mobile began switching itself off unexpectedly. I phoned up orange, and after the customary half hour wait to be connected to someone, I arranged to have the phone replaced under my orange care insurance. It arrived next day and I thought no more about it until my mobile bill arrived last night and there at the bottom of the bill was a £15 charge for "orange care administration fee". I phoned them up and (after the 30 minutes wait) was told that this was now orange's standard charge for replacing a phone, and I would have been told about it when I arranged the replacment. I told them I hadn't been (which is true) and asked for a refund. After some wrangling I got it, but was told it was a one-off and mustn't happen again! They made me feel like the guilty party...

This is a new charge, as I've been with orange care for 5 years and have had at least one phone replaced before, without experiencing this problem.

Anyway, after arranging the refund I then cancelled my 'care' insurance policy.

Rant over :) This is just meant as a friendly warning for anyone out there with an orange care policy...
Regards

im sure whenever you make a claim the orange insurance cant be canceled straight away :S check it
unless its changed within the last 6months, the way i knew it worked was the first 6 months there wasnt any fee unless it was damagbed by the customer, so if it was a manufacturers fault and then after the 6m point whenever there was a claim there was an admin fee

I think all electronics goods in the UK have to come with a 12 months guarantee (someone may know different from this)- the phone was less than 12 months old and had developed a problem through no fault of my own. I got it direct from orange, over the phone, so why should I have to pay to get it replaced by them?

because under the insurance your getting it replaced not fixed under the guarentee
if you take it into the store and send it away for repair there is no fee (as long as they believe its a manufacturers fault)
