Unfortunately that's the general thing with Sainsburys wine now. They suddenly bring in a wine they've never had on the shelves before, supposedly at half price or "reduce" one they have been selling, but claim it was at a higher price than they say it was.
Obviously, for legal reasons, they abide by the rules governing sales and discounts, but I know for a fact that one wine that is normally about £8 - £9 a bottle is currently being sold at £7 something, supposedly reduced from £11 something.
It seems to be fairly common practice across all the chains now.0 -
Thanks for posting this. I've just got back and think I got myself a bargain. Got 6 bottles of Sancerre Aplhonse Mellot - Domaine La Moussiere 2009 reduced from £15.99 to £4.50, with 25% off they work out at £3.38 a bottle. Very chuffed :j0

That's a huge reduction. Do you think it's a mistake?
I'm going to have a look on the website.0 -
Does anyone know if the 25% deal works like the tesco one did.
That was if you bought the 3 for £12 which were say £7.99 a bottle, they gave you the discount for the deal ie 6 @ 7.99 = 47.94 less 23.94 = £24.00 ie 3 for £12.00 x 2 then gave you the 25% off discount but this was calculated on the £47.94 ie 25% = £11.98 so you got the six bottles for £24.00 - £11.98 ie £2.00 per bottle.
I presume this would just be 25% of the £24.00 ie £18.00 for 6 bottles.
Thanks0 -
still drinking from the £2.50 gliche in Marks, but worth a look as Sainsburys leave there half price offers on during promotion/whereas Tescos always seem to finish them first0

Sainsburys used to do this but now you only get a discount on the final price paid.
With regards to cheap red wine, it is always more reliable than cheap white wine.
The 2 for £10 claret isn't at all bad for everyday drinking as I found out tonight. Will go back for some more and hope the Cotes du Rhone is back in stock.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -

Both Sainsburys and Tesco take some offers off before these discounts and leave some on. I always look at the discounted wines when these offers are on now as you get some tremendous double discounts.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. not sure if it works right online... There are a fair few offers which are only for delivery by 1st March (so they end after that I assume). All the other deals have worked and we added 6 wines to the online basket, it stated you wouldn't see the 25% of 6 wines until right at the end on your receipt. Then it said only on your physical delivery receipt, but that makes no sense. Our total bill was £70, but would be £62 if the 25% offer was working..it says it is..but didn't change. Guess we'll have to see what the physical receipt says because it doesn't seem to have worked...0
