Paypal negative balance - can they debit my credit card.

  • Well they tried to take it via direct debit but got refused.

No one has actually clearly answered my original question though. Can they instead try and take it via my debit card which was setup as a secondary funding source.

I'm quite aware of not being able to use ebay again. But I'll be avoiding it as I never really sell apart from this time and I'll be buying any photography gear (what I used ebay for) from safer places. One stupid and rude buyer has put me off ebay for life, believe me.

Thanks. I was worried because they had tried via Direct Debit they'd try via card. I guess there must be different rules and regulations concerning taking money via different means then.

They would need the authority. You gave them authority with the DD as that implies they can take money whenever they request it, the cards are a different matter.

If you are really nervous about it though try and remove them entirely from your paypal account, sometimes it is possible.

Let me explain a little better slightly OT but gets the point accross
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a couple of things from eBay using my private eBay and Paypal account, because this is seldom used my bank refused the payment?so Paypal took the payment instead from my Debit card that I had on the account.

Oh I get you. I think actually buying something maybe different to them then trying to take money off you at a later date if this makes sense.
  • I would still try and remove the card..or do you have one you can add that is not used or attached to a main bank account and remove the original card, just in case they do try and take the money from that source,I do not trust paypal and like any other company if there is a way that they can get their money, they will.
