Maybe your router has got the broadcast SSID option disabled and you're not seeing it? From another PC, or via a cable, get into the router's configuration and see if it is enabled. Once you've connected, you can put it back to disabled again as it helps stop others from seeing it. I've had problems with that, particularly where mobiles are trying to connect, like iPhones and HTC Desires!

I'm not sure I really understand your post (:o), but since other people can access the internet through the router fine, I figured it was a problem with my computer rather than a setting on the router? Could you expand on the whole 'broadcast SSID' thing? Thanks

It's just the way a wireless router tells the rest of the world it's there. If others are able to see it, the name they can see for it is the SSID. With many operating systems, such as Vista, you don't have to see it to connect, but you must know its name. By default, the router probably broadcasts its name to make connecting a bit easier, but the broadcast ability could have been disabled.
If you can't see an available wireless network, that could be the reason.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I have had this issue before , and this worked for me .0 -

Hmm, well I can see it on the list of available wireless networks, but it only goes as far as letting me connect to it locally, and is refusing to let me on the internet.2023 Mortgage-Free Wannabe #19: £11,675.68/£13,000
