I was wondering if tesco pricing was done on one system so that if an item scans at one price in one store it will scan at that price at everystore.

Anyone know if that's how the tesco pricing works?

you're never going to stop a tesco employee gaining access to the site.

Only way i can think of a fool proof way is to either provide payslips and bank statements to prove no pay from tescos or provide at least a months video footage of everything you do to prove you don't put on a tesco top ;)

There is always going to be misprices, tesco have been aware there doing them for some time, yet they still happen. Making a sub forum will be just as easy for them to read through as this one.

I could easily create a site, that is filtered by people IP address or be invite only, but no doubt you'd get a tesco employee finding there way onto it. You'd properly get a member on it coming back to a board like this and posting the misprices anyway.

I dont even want you to know my first name mate.....never mind my inside leg measurement..........this is getting ludicrous....Please give it up.

Apart from totally agreeing with the whole post.. the comment above is something a fair few people using this board seem to have forgotten sadly... or are you here purely for selfish and greed reasons..

I have only had one r & r, but thats cool... more will happen..

BTW - if you are going to have a breakaway site.. good luck.

It's not surprising or even terrible that people have forgotten, it's just human nature. Put a load of heavily reduced items on a table in any store, stand back and watch the scrum. People who wouldn't normally say boo to a goose will fight tooth and nail for something they don't really want - because it's 75% off.

Same here, we all get caught up in getting ourselves a freebie. And that's OK. Sadly though some think in terms of money and that's where it goes wrong. For example, some people will desperately want to get the current Xbox360 game for their console. They would be happy with one. Others though, will get themselves multiple copies - and every store they r&r the game in will change their SEL and someone else on this board will be disappointed.

I must admit I have no problem with people saying they've got £xxxx from Tesco today. But it does sadden me just a little when they list multiples of items they simply won't use (just sell on at a reduced price):

    6 x Cars DVD: £75
    5 x Tony Hawks: £200
    etc.

Don't get me wrong, I kinda wish them good luck, but I also think about all those who post "Went to 4 stores today, no Cars DVD or Tony Hawks"...is that because the store is on the ball or because of the multiple r&r's some people do?

Some will be doing it to pass on to faily/friends, and good luck to them. Some will do it to pay for a Christmas they couldn't afford otherwise. But there will always be some who do it because they can? And who can blame them for enjoying the thrill of the hunt?

Maybe, instead of talking about a restricted board for the misprices, we should be talking about a "swap shop" board where people can swap r&r's they don't want for something they do want. And there may even be some who are happy to give unwanted r&r's away.

Heck, we could even get the best r&r'ers together and do an Orphans Christmas Collection - suitable unwanted multiple r&r's donated to the local orphanage/children's charity.

As for me, I have had 3 r&r's altogether and the last one will make it a great Christmas. So a BIG THANKS to all those serial r&r's who do so much of the legwork for this thread and benefit us all - even those who take, ahem, full advantage of the misprices...(with just a little nudge to share anything unwanted with a child in need this Christmas).
  • Just on my way to Tescos now, hopefully to pick up a free copy of Tony Hawks for the Xbox360.
Just to confirm, I buy it, then go back in and say I've been overcharged. Then what? Will they offer me R+R??

You're not the DJ Rick Houghton surely ;)

Hello Samhan, welcome to the thread! We could all give up work if we really knew how Tesco pricing worked - not even Tesco know themselves it seems!!!

In theory yes, as all the stores should be updated pricewise via a central system. However, keep in mind that there are categories of stores within stores for example in London there are several Extras around but you will find pricing differences between an East London and West London Tesco Extra on many items. I know that the Tescos Wembly has some higher priced items than the Tesco at Perivale. Why? I can only mark it up to different market areas and before anyone decides they want to flame me, I am talking on "GROCERY" items, NOT electronics, clothing, etc.

    Postie: note for you below:rotfl:

Only know how their systems work as I was (un)fortunate enough to be an consultant on a project for their network systems!
